 News and Updates

1/5/2012      I hope everyone has had a great holiday season! The new year is off to a great start with some exciting auditions. I've also registered to run the Pasadena half marathon in May to prepare me for the full 26.2 miles at the San Francisco Marathon in July! My first marathon experience was so rewarding I am excited to dive into the journey again.

12/12/2011  Upload six new headshots to the photo gallery!

Just had the most AMAZING shoot with Tanya Giang. I highly recommend her for headshots. Samples of her work are at www.pocketgirlphoto.com  I am still waiting for my team to pick out the official shots (there were so many great ones to choose from!), but I've put a little sneak preview on my front page =)

Talk about a blast from the past! My friend just spotted me in a Cisco commercial I shot over four years ago in 2007. Believe it or not, this is the first time I've seen it! Look for me in the boat and classroom scenes. I'm the "teenaged" version of the younger and adult characters.

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!
Besides keeping busy with auditions, I have other great news! On June 11, 2011 I passed my black belt test in Taekwondo. What an incredible journey and learning experience! Thanks very much to Master Lewis and all of my classmates. I was very happy my mom came in from San Francisco to watch & afterwards we all got to celebrate with yummy (vegan) cupcakes from Yummy Cupcakes in Burbank, CA.

Had a fantastic shoot with Pat Maus of Maus Photography! Check out a few shots I've posted on the front page & a few more in the Photos section!  I am so happy with my new photos & excited for the new possibilities. To check out more of his wonderful work please visit www.maus-photography.com

4/2/2011  Along with updating my website's look, I've also updated mine! I have short hair again! After many months of contemplating I finally took the plunge. I've had long hair for over six years and the thought of having it go under the chopping block was way too scary for me. I know this sounds silly, but it was very exhilirating and liberating to take off eight inches. Here is a sneak preview as I'm getting new headshots done in a couple weeks. Change feels great!

1/13/2011 Just shot the role of Claire in the pilot "Blood Brotherhood," directed by Jim Towns. What a fun shoot! It's set to screen sometime in February. I can't wait to see the finished product. Check out the new set photo I uploaded in my photo section!

10/17/2010  I completed my first marathon! The 2010 Long Beach International City Bank race! I've been a runner for most of my life but wasn't sure if I could ever survive 26.2 miles. Guess I found out =) I trained hard for six months and it definitely paid off. I would not trade this experience for anything in the world. My official time was 4:46:34  My goal is to someday finish in less than 4:30.  I think it is possible =)

6/17/10 Doing a little ADR for my role in "The Binds That Tie Us."

3/22/10  8 new headshots added to Photos section.

3/19/10 I had a great shoot with John Phillips of Click West Photography

 www.clickwestphoto.com

I've posted one of my favorites to the right. More shots to come soon, I'm having trouble narrowing them down! (there are so many awesome shots to choose from  :)  I am so happy with John's work and would recommend him to any actor looking to get fantastic shots.

3/1/10  It's been a while since my last update! I am super excited to announce that the invisalign work on my teeth has finally been finished. It was a year-long project, but I'm so glad I went ahead and got it done. I've scheduled a session for new headshots on the 18th. I can't wait!

11/29/09 I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Today I got to participate in a table read for "Red Envelope," an Asian American romantic comedy written by Vanessa Joe. I got to read for Lucy, the mischievous youngest sister. The script was very well written and it was fun to see what everyone brought to the table. There aren't too many Asian American comedies out in the mainstream today, so it's an exciting possibility!

9/13/09  Shot the trailer for "The Ties That Bind Us." What an exciting shoot! Originally I was slated to play the secretary but due to a small on-set glitch, they switched me to the doctor/obstetrician in the birthing scene less than an hour before shooting. Learning new lines and getting a new character on the spot was a great adrenaline rush.

One new photo added to the gallery section.

7/29/09  I will be shooting a trailer for "The Ties That Bind Us" in September. It will premiere in Cannes! More info to come soon!

7/20/09  I just finished editing my new demo reel! It's posted in the "Demo Reel" section.  It is also available at this link :

14 stills from "Lily's Hope" uploaded to Photos Section

6/29/09    Welcome to Joanne's official website!

Shot the starring role in the film "Lily's Hope." Lily, a young girl growing up in China, is sent to America in the hopes of going to medical school and realizing her dreams of becoming a doctor. Her dreams are quickly shattered when she realizes her "family friend" had tricked all of them and sold her into a human trafficking ring.

This was perhaps the most challenging project I've worked on so far, and a very wonderful experience. The film was shot over several weekends and is in Mandarin Chinese. The footage so far looks great, I can't wait to see the finished product & have some clips for my reel!
